Undergraduate internships are available year round at CISP. The majority of internships support the research activities and include laboratory work in powder characterization, process development, and part/product performance measures. Other internships available to support the Center activities include database creation, website development, education and outreach tools, and photography archives. More information and the application procedure are available. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), is a 10-week summer program that provides exposure to research in sintering. Students participating in this program will perform research duties as part of an interdisciplinary team, visit five industrial sites that represent different segments of the industry, attend weekly seminars on research methodology, intellectual property, sintering and related topics, and participate in weekly "lunch and a conversation" events where product/engineering design and ethics are discussed as a group. Applications and additional information are available. Graduate research opportunities are available for a wide variety of engineering and science disciplines related to the study of sintering. Graduate assistantships require that the student be accepted into the graduate program of a related engineering or science field. Students interested in these opportunities should review the range of research topics in the current CISP research program and discuss the possible opportunities with the faculty member(s) leading that effort.
