Process Characterization
towards Dimensional Control in Binder Assisted Processing
- Pavan Suri (Michael Couts)
Processing parameters such as green density, sintering cycle and substrate condition play a decisive role in the microstructure, mechanical properties and dimensional control of powder injection molded component. This work is directed at designing experiments to isolated the effects of component size, sintering temperature and time on the aforementioned properties.
The project will involve designing and fabricating equipment, injection molding, macroscopic and microscopic evaluation of the components and statistical analysis.Over the course of the project, the student will learn:
- Optical Characterization Methods
- Fundamental of Injection Molding
- Statistical Data Analysis
- Introduction to structure-property correlation related to binder assisted processing.
