Utilization of Alloy Selection
and Processing Method to Enhance the Strength of P/M Parts
- D. Heaney and D. Koss (Eric Clementoni)
D. Heaney and D. Koss are leading this project designed to benchmark and improve the strength of high strength press and sintered components. Design of experiments will be used to examine the affect of alloying additions and processing conditions on the strength of P/M components. Several parameters like alloy type, sintering temperature, and compaction pressure will be investigated for the first year of the project. The team has started to prepare and test the samples for density, strength, ductility, and fatigue properties. These components will be measured and statistically analyzed.
