Numerical Simulation of the
Liquid Phase Sintering Process
- R.M.German & C. Binet (Kara Lenkoski)
Randall M.German and Chantal Binet lead a project on the numerical simulation of the liquid phase sintering (LPS) process.
In this project, the deformation of the material will be simulated during LPS.
At some point of this process, the component under sintering is a mixture of liquid metal and solid particles and is sensitive to gravity and friction with the substrate. With heavy material, it is common to see the component slumping during LPS.
This deformation is a function of the material properties as well as the sintering conditions. Numerical simulation will be used to evaluate the effect of the material properties and external conditions on the deformation of the component.
